The Amazing Race
The Challenge:
1. Start at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in the capital of Fiji, Suva, on the island of Vitilevu. The first challenge is a detour. Your job is to climb the massive tree outside the church. (A Fijian man in an orange and blue flowered shirt will direct you to the tree.) You must (as a team) grab one large leaf of fern and one large leaf of cactus. Then climb down the tree and give these objects to the same man in the floral shirt.
2. Next, you both have five hours to make your way to the coast of the island. You will be given one long, multi-colored feather. You may not ask any Fijians for help or direction.
3. Once on the coast, walk north west along the edge of the coast until you find a group of five Fijian men wearing matching feathers on their hats. The are the fire walkers. This final challenge is a roadblock. Choose one person from your team to complete a shortened version of the Fire Walking ceremony. In this version, you will not have to endure the two weeks of strict taboos, however you will have to perform the coal walking with the group of fire-walkers. After completing the fire walk, you will have 6 hours to travel the coast of Vitilevu and find the Sigatoka railway station. When you find the station, you have completed the challenge.
